Motor oil flexible packaging stand-up pouch: making self-service oil filling more convenient

Published:2021-04-25 · Industry News · Source: 中国包装网

For a long time, Lube-Tech, a leader in advanced lubricant solutions, and ArcticCat, a leading snowmobile manufacturer, have been eager to create a durable package for the ArcticCat brand's new C-TEC2 synthetic two-stroke engine oil, one that has high barrier performance to protect the high-efficiency performance of the oil inside, a certain degree of visibility and ease of use, and is also environmentally friendly.

After Lube-Tech proposed the preliminary idea of using flexible packaging, it immediately started cooperation with flexible packaging supplier Glenroy. Through careful design and production, a flexible stand-up pouch made of multilayer composite material, with its surface flexographically printed using 5 inks, was launched, as shown in the figure. This is also the first packaging format used for lubricating oil in the American motorized industry.

This stand-up pouch raises the convenience of using C-TEC2 synthetic two-stroke engine oil to a new level. It is lightweight, durable, easy to store, features a tamper-evident simple pouring spout, and its ergonomic handle helps users quickly and easily pour the oil into the snowmobile fuel tank.

In addition, the flexible stand-up pouch packaging format offers a larger printing area than industry-standard oil bottles. An industry-standard 32-ounce F-style oil bottle can print a label area of about 29 square inches, while the flexible stand-up pouch can provide about 200 square inches of printable area. The large-area printed graphics allow the story of the oil to be told to the fullest, enhancing the product's shelf presence.

In terms of environmental protection, this flexible stand-up pouch has the following advantages over traditional rigid oil bottles: less energy consumed and less carbon dioxide emitted during production; a higher product/packaging weight ratio; fewer transportation trips, thereby reducing fossil fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions; and a significant reduction in landfill waste through source material reduction.

At present, this C-TEC2 synthetic two-stroke engine oil is sold in a 1.4L capacity and is available from ArcticCat dealers around the world.
