(Qutub Minar)

The Qutub Minar is a world cultural heritage site built in 1193. It is the world's tallest brick minaret, built by India's first Muslim king to celebrate his victory over the local Hindus. Constructed of red sandstone and marble, it stands 73 meters high and has a history of nearly 1,000 years; why this tower structure has been preserved so well remains a mystery to this day. The tower is a typical Indo-Islamic style building, with Quranic verses in Arabic and various decorative patterns engraved on its shaft. Inside the tower there are 397 steps, from which one can climb directly to the suspended platform at the top.

There are two India Gates in India, and the other one is located in Mumbai. As a prominent landmark of Delhi, India Gate stands on Rajpath, from which many important roads radiate outward. Built in 1921 and designed by Edwin Lutyens, India Gate was originally called the All India War Memorial, commemorating the British Indian Army soldiers who lost their lives for British India in World War I and the Third Anglo-Afghan War; it is the equivalent of India's Monument to the People's Heroes. In appearance it resembles the Arc de Triomphe in France. Cultural events are often held here, along with many businesses aimed at tourists. Many political protests have also taken place here, including demonstrations in which the public pressured the government to amend laws over the "black bus case".

(Lotus Temple of the Bahai Faith)

A famous landmark building in Delhi, also known as the Lotus Temple of Delhi, it has so far drawn more visitors than the famous Taj Mahal. Its appearance resembles a blooming lotus, symbolizing mutual tolerance and coexistence among different religions, hence the name "Lotus Temple". Because its shape closely resembles the "Sydney Opera House", the two are called "two buildings that can talk to each other". A very distinctive feature is that the highly inclusive Bahai Faith stipulates that people of any religious belief may worship their own deities here without distinction.

(Jama Masjid)

New Delhi's Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in all of India and one of the "three great mosques of the world". "Jama" means "Friday". Its two minarets and white Islamic domes shine in the sunlight. It was ordered built by Shah Jahan, who also commissioned the Taj Mahal, and ceremonies are held here every Friday and on festivals. Perhaps it is not as colorful as Hindu temples, but the silently praying people bring a solemn religious atmosphere. Climbing the minaret offers a view over the jumbled houses of Old Delhi and, in the distance, the Qutub Minar.

(Red Fort, Delhi)

The Red Fort is a typical red sandstone building in the Mughal Empire style, very similar to the Agra Fort in Agra, though smaller in scale. Delhi's Red Fort was built by Shah Jahan, the fifth emperor of the Mughal dynasty, in the mid-17th century. After repeated wars, today's Red Fort has lost its former splendor, yet the majestic grandeur of the Lahore Gate remains, the towering red walls still stand, and the palaces whose basic structures are largely intact still seem to reveal glimpses of past glory.

The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his deceased wife Mumtaz Mahal, completed in 1653. People praise it as the pride of India and call it one of the seven wonders of the world. Tagore said the Taj Mahal is "a teardrop on the cheek of eternity". Architecturally, the Taj Mahal combines Central Asian and Arab Islamic styles with native Indian styles, and is a representative work of Islamic architecture. The layout of the Taj Mahal complex has a symmetrical beauty and is a typical Mughal style: to the west and east of the main building stand a mosque and a matching building respectively, while two gardens correspond to each other in front of and behind the main building.

The elegant and exquisite dome of the main building, the winding vine patterns decorating the walls, and the beautiful and intricate Quranic verses inlaid in black marble on the mausoleum exude a strong exotic flavor, while the precious gems from various countries inlaid in the pure white marble walls sparkle under the blazing sun of South Asia; all of this highlights the past glory of the Mughal Empire. Against the backdrop of the sky, the immense Taj Mahal reveals a different charm at different times of day and under different natural light, fully displaying the mysterious beauty of the land of India.
