Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Inspects the Net Content of Commodity Outer Packaging

Published:2021-04-16 · Industry News

Editor's note: The state stipulates that commodity packaging must clearly indicate the net content of the commodity, and that the actual weight of the commodity must not be less than the net content indicated on the outer packaging. Recently, the relevant authorities of Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, carried out supervision and inspection on this matter, and the pass rate was relatively good, reaching 96%.

Recently, Honghe Prefecture of Yunnan Province organized law enforcement personnel and metrological testing personnel to carry out supervision and inspection of the net content of quantitatively packaged commodities produced by manufacturing enterprises within its jurisdiction. The move was intended to crack down on illegal practices such as giving short weight and cheating consumers, and to effectively safeguard the interests of the public,

The focus of this inspection was on products of public concern and local specialty products within the jurisdiction, and quantitatively packaged commodities were inspected by means of random sampling. According to the provisions of the Measures for the Metrological Supervision and Administration of Quantitatively Packaged Commodities, the average actual content of a batch of quantitatively packaged commodities shall be greater than or equal to the marked net content. Through sampling and testing of 45 batches of quantitatively packaged commodities produced by 39 enterprises, the inspection results showed that the deviation between the marked weight on the outer packaging and the actual weight of most of the sampled commodities was within the range stipulated by the state, while a few commodities had unqualified net content or incorrect labeling, with a pass rate of 96%. In response to the unqualified cases, quality supervision law enforcement personnel have ordered the enterprises concerned to rectify the situation in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

While carrying out random sampling, law enforcement personnel also stepped up publicity of the Rules for Metrological Inspection of Quantitatively Packaged Commodities among enterprises, so that production and business units can correctly understand the metrological requirements for the net content of quantitatively packaged commodities, raise their metrological awareness, and achieve lawful production and honest operation.
