The 'Packaging and the Environment' Standards Proposed by China
[ppzhan abstract] Some time ago, the working group meetings on two new standards and the sixth plenary session of the ISO/TC122/SC4 "Packaging and the Environment" technical committee were held, and China also sent representatives to attend. The meeting focused on the working drafts (WD) of two new ISO standards proposed by our institute, "Packaging and the Environment - Terminology" and "Packaging and the Environment - Material Identification Marking", as well as key technical issues. These are standards in the field of "Packaging and the Environment" proposed by China.
The working group meetings on two new standards and the sixth plenary session of the ISO/TC122/SC4 "Packaging and the Environment" technical committee were successfully held on October 14-15, 2013 in Brussels, Belgium. More than 30 representatives from China, Sweden, Japan, South Korea, the United States, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, Belgium, Germany, Italy and other countries attended the meeting.
With the approval of the Standardization Administration of China, a Chinese delegation traveled to Belgium to attend this important meeting. The delegation was composed of the head of the domestic technical counterpart unit, the director of the Research and Standardization Center of the China Export Commodity Packaging Research Institute (a WG1 expert) and the joint secretary of ISO/TC122/SC4, as well as representatives from the Shandong Institute of Quality Inspection, the Jiangsu Institute of Standardization and enterprises.
The meeting focused on the working drafts (WD) of two new ISO standards proposed by our institute, "Packaging and the Environment - Terminology" and "Packaging and the Environment - Material Identification Marking", as well as key technical issues, and produced meeting minutes. This meeting was a key stage in the process of drafting and researching the standards and played a crucial role in determining their content.
These two standards are standards in the field of "Packaging and the Environment" proposed by China, and as the convener country, China will undertake the technical management work of the two working groups at all stages of standard development. The initiation and development of these two standards are of great significance for China to further play an active role in the field of packaging and the environment, and for standardizing the recycling of packaging waste, removing trade barriers, reducing the environmental impact of packaging and demonstrating social responsibility. At the same time, they also create favorable conditions for China National Packaging Corporation to further rely on standardization resources in carrying out domestic industry work in the future. Once the standards are completed, promulgated and implemented, they will play an exemplary role in the development of standardization work in China's packaging and environment field and will lay a solid foundation for the Corporation to play an industry-leading role in this field.
