Drafting of National Environmental-Protection Printing Standard / Printing Environmental Label Technical Requirements Standard Officially Launched
The drafting work of the national environmental protection printing standards is planned to be completed in two phases, with priority given to completing the first-phase standard drafting plan. To this end, the China Printing Technology Association is asking large and medium-sized printing enterprises to actively support the drafting work of the national environmental protection printing standards. The scope of printing plants' participation in standards drafting is divided into two parts, "standard participating units" and "standard cooperating units", and printing enterprises may freely choose on a voluntary basis.
The introduction of the national environmental protection printing standards will be the basis for implementing "green printing" in China's printing industry and an important direction for the sustainable development of the industry as a whole, and will at the same time be incorporated into the scope of implementation of Document No. 90 issued by the Ministry of Finance concerning the government's implementation of "green procurement" (Opinions on the Implementation of Government Procurement of Environmentally Labelled Products), Document No. 129 of the General Office of the State Council concerning the catalogue and standards for centralized government procurement, and the State Council's "Notice on Issuing the Comprehensive Work Plan for Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction", which changes "energy-saving, water-saving and environmentally labelled products" from products purchased by the government on a priority basis to products subject to mandatory purchase.
As the cause of "green printing" in China's printing industry continues to develop in depth, entrusted by the General Administration of Press and Publication and the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the China Printing Technology Association and the Environmental Development Centre of the Ministry of Environmental Protection officially launched in August 2009 the drafting work of the national environmental protection printing standards / technical requirements standards for printing environmental labelling.
