Six New Printing Machinery Standards to Take Effect in May

Published:2021-04-16 · Industry News

After China's accession to the WTO, domestically made printing machinery has come under the impact of foreign brands. According to statistics, domestic printing equipment currently holds only 30%–40% of the domestic market. To expand market share and improve products' competitiveness in the domestic market, the technical level and safety performance of the products must be raised. However, at present there is still a considerable gap between China's printing machinery and that of other countries in terms of technical level and quality. Therefore, starting with standards and using standards to drive up quality and technical levels has long been a unanimous call among industry insiders.

Starting from May 1 this year, six new printing machinery industry standards will be formally implemented. The six printing machinery standards are: "Printing Machinery — Paper Laminating Machine", "Printing Machinery — Web-Fed Gravure Printing Machine", "Printing Machinery — Longitudinal Slitting Machine", "Printing Machinery — Platen Die-Cutting Machine Part 1: Horizontal Platen Die-Cutting Machine", "Printing Machinery — Folding Machine" and "Special Printing — Hot Stamping Machine".

These six standards were formulated and revised by the National Technical Committee for Printing Machinery Standardization and are recommended industry standards. At the end of November 2006, the National Development and Reform Commission approved and issued the "Numbers, Names and Starting Implementation Dates of 124 Machinery Industry Standards", of which items 80 to 85 are printing machinery industry standards.

The secretary-general of the National Technical Committee for Printing Machinery Standardization said that of the six standards, apart from "Special Printing — Hot Stamping Machine", which is newly formulated, the other five are upgrades of old standards. Those old standards have been in force for 8 to 16 years; given the convention of revising standards every 3 to 5 years, they have all reached the time for revision. In addition, the technology and manufacturing level of domestic printing equipment has indeed improved in recent years, so the committee revised these five standards.

In his view, the introduction of these standards will help raise the quality level of domestically made printing machinery and expand its share of the domestic market. He also revealed that at the end of this year the National Technical Committee for Printing Machinery Standardization will release a number of printing machinery standards.
