Print E-commerce: It Changes More Than Just the Way Orders Are Taken

Taking the route of online transactions can solve some challenges outside the printing field, such as controlling and allocating marketing funds and enhancing a brand's influence. Online transactions bring more than a change in the way business is done; they mean a lot, a lot.

If you see e-commerce merely as a simple change in the transaction model between you and your customers, once you really start using e-commerce you will find a whole pile of problems. True, e-commerce is a payment method, but the factor that truly makes it unique is that a great deal of added value can be built around e-commerce.

Today, truly successful printing companies are destined not to be purely printing businesses, and this does not include those companies that simply combine QR codes, pURLS and the like into their printing services, or printing companies that fly banners such as "marketing service provider" and deliver corresponding services by means of cross-media marketing. No, absolutely not!

The value-added services sold by printing companies that the author refers to here are those that form a non-mainstream part outside the transaction, yet in sales these services often become the key factor that closes the deal. For example, many large retail chains will not contact a printing company over every little thing; they have marketing budgets and brand control management. Part of these marketing budgets is spent on printing, and brand control is likewise folded into these printed products.

The sale is not aimed at printing; the sale is aimed at bringing decentralized marketing budgets under unified control so that no local gaps appear. Note: this has nothing to do with whether ink or toner is used for printing. Note also: this kind of added value can absolutely only be provided by an online ordering system. Guess where such a conversation would take place? It can only be a high-level conversation with the customer's marketing director or finance director. If you achieve this, you will keep your business forever.

Print e-commerce can give printing companies value-added advantages beyond print production, allowing them to reach deep into the customer's organizational structure and thereby win more business.
