US Paper Industry and Paper Recycling Stay Resilient During the Pandemic

"Like all sectors of the economy, papermakers are dealing with the challenges brought by the ongoing pandemic. These include global and domestic supply chain problems, such as ocean shipping bottlenecks and limited truck supply.
"Nevertheless, some noteworthy data points have emerged, one of them in the area of paper recycling, which remains a good trend. In July, the total paper recovery rate for recycling was up an impressive 8.9% year to date. In the United States, about 80% of paper mills use some recycled paper fiber to make recyclable products such as office paper, packaging, and bath and tissue products. This is a testament to the consumers who recycle these products, combined with the impressive infrastructure investments our manufacturers are making.
