60,000 Cainiao Post Stations Encourage 100 Million Consumers to Recycle Express Packaging

On October 18, with the support of the State Post Bureau and the China Express Association, 16 express logistics companies jointly announced that they would join hands with Tmall and Cainiao to officially launch logistics preparations for Tmall's 2021 Double 11.

Li Wuchang, chief commander of Cainiao's Double 11 logistics, said that serving the real economy, doorstep delivery, green carbon reduction, and thanking frontline couriers will be the four keywords for Cainiao's logistics preparations for Double 11 together with Tmall this year.

For the real economy, logistics services for industrial belts have become the biggest highlight of this year's Double 11.

It is understood that Cainiao has gone deep into manufacturing and agricultural product industrial belts to get express delivery into factories and villages, providing logistics services for the real economy from the source and helping the products of factory managers and farmers reach the whole country. To this end, Cainiao has set up origin warehouses in more than 30 manufacturing and agricultural product industrial belts, and opened 2 million square metres of joint distribution centres in 1,000 counties across 29 provinces to help agricultural products enter cities. To support domestic goods going overseas, Cainiao will charter more than 300 aircraft during Double 11.

At the same time, to ensure timely delivery of parcels and improve the shopping experience of overseas consumers, Cainiao's global parcel network provides cross-border merchants with a "compensation for late delivery" guarantee: when overseas consumers buy "X-day delivery" orders bearing the official warehouse shipment label, they can see the estimated delivery time of the parcel, and if it is not delivered within the displayed time, overseas consumers can receive corresponding experience compensation. Smart order consolidation will cover 50 countries worldwide during this year's Double 11.

For consumers at large, Cainiao stations in more than 100 cities will, for the first time during Double 11, offer doorstep delivery of Tmall and Taobao parcels; at Cainiao stations in 2,000 universities nationwide, Tmall and Taobao parcels will offer free doorstep delivery by appointment. Cainiao Zhisong, under Cainiao, will join hands with Tmall Supermarket to continue its "doorstep delivery, with compensation if not delivered" delivery service. It promises that, barring special reasons, all Tmall Supermarket goods will be delivered to the door, and if this cannot be achieved, consumers can receive compensation. It is understood that during Double 11 this service will cover the main areas of more than 200 cities. In addition, for consumers who like imported goods, some imported goods shipped from Cainiao's general trade warehouses will be delivered to their homes on the same day or the next day after consumers pay the balance.

This year's Double 11 may become the most low-carbon Double 11 in history. From November 1 to 15, 60,000 Cainiao stations will reach out to 100 million consumers, encouraging them to recycle express packaging; consumers who take part in recycling can receive up to 500,000 fresh eggs every day, with a total of 7.5 million eggs and other "green gifts" waiting to be claimed.

In addition, Cainiao stations in 20 cities nationwide will pilot a "green shipping with circular packaging materials" project to promote the recycling of express packaging. During Double 11, Cainiao's technologies such as smart order consolidation and smart box cutting will directly reduce the amount of packaging materials used. And the distributed photovoltaic power stations in Cainiao logistics parks will also continue to provide clean energy, joining forces to reduce carbon.

During Double 11, hundreds of millions of parcels are delivered by frontline couriers. To express its gratitude, during Double 11 Cainiao will invest more than 100 million yuan to subsidize couriers and encourage them to improve service quality.

The logistics peak of the 13th Tmall Double 11 will be met by a digital and intelligent logistics industry internet: 3 million logistics workers nationwide, more than 5,000 kilometres of automated assembly lines, and 210,000 express outlets have all been digitally connected to varying degrees. Through Cainiao's electronic waybills and logistics early-warning system, any express outlet nationwide can receive early warnings of abnormal parcels, ensuring smooth and seamless Double 11 logistics.

"Double 11 logistics has long been more than just the fulfilment link of a consumption carnival. We hope to use a digital, intelligent, green and warm logistics industry internet to provide good service to the real economy and to domestic and overseas consumers," Li Wuchang said.
