Australia's well-known VISY aseptic liquid packaging company recently completed the installation of its second Martin automatic unwind/rewind system. To obtain maximum efficiency and capacity from its latest investment, VISY selected Martin automatic roll-changing equipment and installed it on a brand-new Komori Chambon rotary offset press at its plant near Melbourne.

The newly installed Komori Chambon rotary offset press has a web width of 1020 mm and a printing speed of 400 m/min. The Martin equipment includes an MCB automatic butt-splice unwinder and a TR tower-type automatic rewinder. The MCB automatic butt-splice unwinder enables continuous unwinding, keeping the press running stably at high speed; with its equipped register splicing system, the unwinder can detect special marks and perform precise splicing. The TR tower-type shaftless automatic rewinder enables the new production line to achieve non-stop, roll-to-roll production.

In Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific islands region, VISY is a licensee of SIG Combibloc for the production of the Combibloc series of aseptic packaging, and is also licensed by Elopak to produce Pure-Pak packaging. Founded in Melbourne, VISY is one of the world's largest privately owned packaging and recycling companies, with more than 120 operating sites and manufacturing plants in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, employing more than 5,500 people. It also has trading offices in Singapore and China, and its sister company in the United States, Pratt Industries, employs more than 3,500 people in North America.

The new Martin automatic unwinding and rewinding equipment is the second set of Martin automatic unwind/rewind equipment for the VISY Group. The equipment was successfully installed and has been put into production.
