On October 31 – November 1, 2012, the National Technical Committee 170 on Printing Standardization of China (SAC/TC170) held the 3rd working meeting of the drafting group for two national digital printing standards, "Quality Requirements and Inspection Methods for Digital Prints" and "Quality Requirements and Inspection Methods for Digital Hard Proof Sheets," in Beijing. Nearly 20 experts and technical personnel attended the meeting, from Zhejiang Huaren Digital Printing Co., Ltd., Donggang Co., Ltd., Beijing Donggang Jiahua Security Information Technology Co., Ltd., Shanghai Printing (Group) Co., Ltd., Beijing Shengtianhong Plate-making and Printing Technology Co., Ltd., Beijing Founder Electronics Co., Ltd., the School of Press and Publication of Hangzhou Dianzi University, Beijing Shimei Times Technology Development Co., Ltd., Fuji Xerox Industrial Development (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Ricoh Software Research Institute (Beijing) Co., Ltd., and People's Education Press.

The meeting studied and discussed the technical content of the 3rd draft prepared by the drafting group for the two national digital printing standards. The meeting decided to modify the specific technical parameters for digital print quality, to include the "solid density requirements" as an informative appendix, and to delete the density measurement method. The meeting also decided to modify the technical data for digital hard proof sheets, such as color difference, stability, and color uniformity, and held that the issue of image noise in digital printing should be linked to the production requirements of digital printing, with the specific technical data to be further studied and determined. The meeting decided that, as needed, another small expert meeting would be convened for the two digital printing standards to determine their specific content, after which opinions and suggestions would be solicited from the relevant drafting units to form the draft standards for public comment, and that the 4th draft of the drafting group was scheduled to be completed before the end of January 2013.
