The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology published an announcement on its website on May 14, approving a total of 192 standards for three industries: machinery, light industry and packaging. Six of them involve the printing and packaging industry, and all take effect on October 1 this year. Among these six standards, four are classified as light industry standards and published by China Light Industry Press; two are classified as packaging industry standards and published by China Planning Press.

The four light industry standards are all revisions, replacing the 1991 editions. These four standards cover printing paper and inks, namely: QB/T1012-2010 Offset Printing Paper, QB/T1014-2010 Food Packaging Paper, QB/T1020-2010 Standard Inks for Printability of Paper and Paperboard, and QB/T1211-2010 Offset Book and Periodical Paper.

The two packaging industry standards are newly formulated, namely BB/T0054-2010 Vacuum Aluminized Paper and BB/T0055-2010 Packaging Containers — Aluminium Drinking Bottles.
