APP (China) "Zero-Plastic" Cup Stock Paper Receives TüV Compostability Certification

Published:2021-06-10 · Industry News

On May 25, APP (China) Industrial Paper was awarded DIN CERTCO and European Bioplastics industrial composting certification certificates by the internationally authoritative third-party testing and certification body TÜV Rheinland Group of Germany.

The certified product is the newly developed ZeroPlastic® cupstock paper of APP (China) Industrial Paper, certified by TÜV Rheinland based on the standards DIN EN 13432:2000-12 and ASTM D6400:2019-01.

Obtaining the compostable and degradable certificate means that ZeroPlastic® brand products have fully passed the testing and certification of various domestic and international authoritative institutions (compostable and degradable certification, biological toxicity safety testing, POPs fluorine testing, total specific migration testing, etc.).

Dr. Thorsten Thao, Senior Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Greater China, and Qiu Ruquan, Deputy General Manager of Technology of APP (China) Industrial Paper, attended the certificate award ceremony as recipients

Against the background of the state's new plastic restriction and plastic ban orders, the paper cups, paper bags, meal boxes and the like produced by APP (China)'s ZeroPlastic® brand series products can all be recycled by re-pulping to make paper or composted and degraded, achieving maximum resource recovery and utilization rather than being incinerated or landfilled,

and are a solution that truly helps carbon neutrality and carbon reduction.

In his address, Qiu Ruquan said that

modern pulping and papermaking is a green and sustainable "big cycle," while ZeroPlastic® brand paper forms a "small cycle" through production, consumption, recycling and re-pulping, saving huge amounts of wood for the planet.

As a leading pulping and papermaking enterprise, APP (China) is willing to work together to create the sustainable development of the earth's ecology and benefit our future generations.

ZeroPlastic® Food Card (EPP)

  1. The EPP food-grade eco-friendly barrier layer gives the paper surface good barrier properties and heat-sealability, requiring no PE film lamination, and is suitable for directly making various paper cups, paper bowls, meal boxes, soup buckets and other food delivery and catering packaging, providing a more eco-friendly and safer packaging solution;
  2. It contains no plastic and no fluorescent agents, and is fully recyclable (can be directly re-pulped), degradable (100%) and compostable, safe and eco-friendly, in line with the major trend of green development of packaging materials.

ZeroPlastic® Oil-Proof Food Card (OPB)

  1. No PE lamination is required, and it contains no silicone oil or fluorine-based coating; the paper itself has oil-proof, non-stick and anti-penetration properties, suitable for directly making food packaging boxes, stamped meal boxes and the like;
  2. Super-strong grease penetration resistance, using patented graphene nano-barrier technology;
  3. It contains no plastic, no fluoride and mineral oil and no fluorescent agents; it can be directly heated in a (household) microwave, while being fully degradable, recyclable (can be directly re-pulped) and compostable — safe, eco-friendly and a revolutionary product in line with the trend of green sustainable development.
