Smart Packaging Is Accelerating — Don't Miss the Business Opportunities
Smart packaging is accelerating, and the business opportunities must be seized!

As the pandemic resurges, the once-booming "unmanned retail" has once again come into people's view.
A dazzling variety of "unmanned supermarkets" have sprung up on the market, and about half of the packaging solutions have added
chips to sense and identify goods. Retailers choose
technology because in the current process of selling goods they encounter different problems and needs such as anti-counterfeiting, traceability, online and offline marketing and promotion methods, and merchants, with the help of QR codes,
RFID/NFC
labels, digital watermarks,
augmented reality technology, big data analysis and other technical means, can exactly solve these problems.
Behind the ultimate "buy and go" experience is in fact the support of integrated systems such as portrait recognition, product recognition, self-service payment, big data analysis,
and blockchain. Simply put, this uses computer vision and biometric identification, and the cameras and sensors throughout the store can record the movement of people and items.
, one of the technologies adopted by smart packaging
provides all-round protection for goods from production to sales, and the application of smart packaging technology can also bring enterprises more accurate market forecasts, more realistic sales plans, less or even zero inventory, and convenient product use and after-sales service, thereby giving consumers more reassuring goods and a more transparent production process, and letting consumers enjoy more product services.
Smart packaging is not a new thing that exists only now; it is just that in the earliest days, smart packaging technology was generally used only in high-end goods and luxury packaging, so we did not come into contact with it much.
What is smart packaging?
At the "Smart Packaging" conference held in London, experts gave the definition of smart packaging:
Smart packaging: in a package, a product, or a product
packaging combination, there is an integrated component or an inherent characteristic,
and through such components or characteristics, functional elements meeting specific requirements are given to the functions of product packaging, or embodied in the use of the product itself.
Smart packaging is a general term for packaging that, after retaining the basic packaging functions, can also sense, monitor, record and adjust information and functions related to the environment in which the product is located, and can transmit information to users conveniently and efficiently; users can exchange and communicate information with it, and implicit or preset functions are easy to trigger.
At present, domestic smart packaging adds more relevant information on the basis of existing packaging technology, and can be read by today's advanced smartphones, the Internet and the Internet of Things, thus giving packaging a very large information capacity, so that when purchasing, consumers can learn more about the product's information through its packaging, thereby further facilitating consumers' purchasing.
Smart packaging can still incorporate a lot of innovative thinking and add more new technologies such as mechanical, electrical, electronic and chemical properties, so that it has both general packaging functions and some special properties, to meet the special requirements of goods and special environmental conditions. Smart packaging is applied in almost all product application fields, including electronic products, food, beverages, pharmaceuticals and daily necessities.
The development process of smart packaging
At present, barcodes, QR codes,
invisible watermarks, digital watermarks, dot matrix and other technologies have been applied to different degrees on goods in different industries, and as applications deepen, brand owners and consumers are tending to accept them.
Barcodes are the earliest and most widely used smart packaging, widely used on food, medicine and other retail goods, and are the smart packaging we come into contact with most in daily life. A "scan" can obtain the relevant information of the QR code, which has now also been recognized by the market and is widely used.
And now, smart packaging increasingly emphasizes the importance of interaction. Smart packaging has created a new business model, realizing the interaction of people, objects and places through packaging and realizing the connection between online and offline. With the continuous updating and iteration of the Internet, mobile terminals and big data, consumers' and brand owners' demands for packaging have received more positive responses.
" era, smart packaging has broad prospects
With the implementation of the "14th Five-Year Plan" policy, many emerging industries have been promoted to flourish. Industries such as webcasting, distance education and unmanned factories have become important pillars of economic development. Internet platforms have become an important part of market development, and all industries related to them have achieved huge success.
In view of the continuous improvement of people's living standards, the requirements for food, daily necessities, home furnishings, logistics, medical care and other fields are also getting higher and higher, and smart packaging has become the focus of the packaging industry's development.
At the same time, smart packaging does have powerful functions in protection, service and information, and the fields of pharmaceuticals, food, daily chemicals and logistics are increasingly inclined to adopt smart packaging. Besides extending the shelf life of food, beverages, medicines and other products, smart packaging also bears the heavy responsibility of improving product traceability.
However, we also see that there are still many constraints in the application and promotion of smart packaging, which are hindering its development. First, the most serious problem in China's smart packaging industry mainly comes from the technical aspect, such as a weak research foundation for smart packaging raw materials. Second, we also need to build a smart IoT big data platform to promote the development of smart packaging. Third, cost is still a problem that many enterprises have to face.
Therefore, although smart packaging is the future of the packaging industry, to truly popularize smart packaging and better develop the profit space within it, in addition to increasing the investment of manpower and material resources in the development of smart packaging technology, we must also keep up with the current pace of China's transformation from industrialization to informatization, starting from aspects such as paying attention to new trends in smart technology, promoting mature technologies and reducing costs.
The era has already arrived, and the Internet economy will drive the take-off of the smart packaging industry. The emergence of smart packaging technology makes goods and their packaging more approachable to consumers and makes human-computer interactive communication simpler; with the development of smart packaging technology, packaging is increasingly becoming an extension of product functions and a carrier integrating various innovative technical means; the wave of high and new technologies has pushed packaging to a higher level of development, and developing intelligent packaging is an inevitable trend.
