A Few Packaging Paper Mills Issue Price-Increase Notices to Test the Market, with Hikes of 30-100 yuan/tonne
Individual packaging paper mills issue price-increase letters to test the market, with increases of 30-100 yuan/ton
After entering August, the continuously declining packaging paper market has seen new ups and downs, with paper prices in some regions testing upward. It is understood that some paper mills have recently issued price-increase letters, with increases of 30-100 yuan/ton.
From the weekend to now, the corrugated and containerboard market has been generally stable, with individual quotes raised. As some downstream packaging plants restocked appropriately and paper mills in some areas saw order volumes increase from earlier, individual mills tentatively raised prices by 30-50 yuan/ton. Most industry players remain cautious about the future and maintain just-in-time purchasing.
MCC Paper Yinhe Co., Ltd.: To alleviate the production and operating pressure brought by the current rise in raw material costs and the continuously increasing investment in environmental protection and safety, from August 5, 2022, all of our company's corrugated paper products are uniformly raised by 50 yuan/ton on the basis of current prices.
Shahe Jinxin Paper Co., Ltd.: Due to the impact of raw materials, after study the company has decided that from August 5, 2022, all high-strength corrugated paper products are raised by 30 yuan/ton per ton.
Tangshan Fengnan Shengda Paper Co., Ltd.: Due to the recent continuous rise in raw material prices, environmental protection factors causing increased production costs, on the basis of the current sales price, up 30-50 yuan/ton.
Dongguan Jintian Paper Co., Ltd.: Due to the impact of rising operating costs, after company study the company decided that from August 1, all gray board paper series products produced by the Dongguan company are uniformly raised by 100 yuan/ton on the basis of the original price.

Sichuan Jintian Paper Co., Ltd.: Due to the impact of rising operating costs, after company study the company decided that from August 1, all gray board paper series products produced by the Sichuan company are uniformly raised by 100 yuan/ton on the basis of the original price.
An increase of 30-100 yuan/ton carries an obvious sense of testing the waters. This is both because paper prices kept falling, leaving many small and medium-sized mills on the edge of profit and loss or even in loss, and because
the market has recently rebounded across the board, raising mills' raw material costs. Both reasons give mills a relatively strong willingness to raise prices, but limited by factors such as market weakness, they can only raise prices slightly to test downstream packaging enterprises' reactions.
Observing market changes, the waste paper market has fully recovered this week; including leading paper mills, most domestic mills have raised their waste paper purchase prices by 20-50 yuan/ton. In the short term, waste paper prices are expected to remain mainly upward.
