Recently, the Xishuangbanna Prefecture Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision organized law enforcement officers to go deep into supermarkets, hotels and mooncake manufacturers, focusing on inspecting the packaging of commodities such as mooncakes, tea, alcohol and gifts, and striving to rectify prominent problems in the production and operation of mooncakes, gifts and the like, such as substandard quality and excessive packaging, which harm the legitimate rights and interests of consumers.
In recent years, some enterprises, in order to raise product prices, have made an issue of commodity packaging in a one-sided way, mainly manifested as too many packaging layers, excessively large packaging voids, inappropriate selection of materials, packaging that is difficult to recycle and utilization, and excessively high packaging costs. In particular, the trend of excessive packaging of commodities such as mooncakes, tea, alcohol, cosmetics and health food has intensified, arousing widespread concern from all sectors of society. Excessive packaging of commodities not only wastes resources and pollutes the environment, but also leads to artificially high commodity prices, harms consumer interests, disrupts market order and encourages corruption. It does not conform to the requirements of building a resource-conserving and environment-friendly society and runs counter to the building of socialist spiritual civilization, and strong measures must be taken to tackle it at the root. This inspection found that the vast majority of production and operation units can comply in accordance with the regulations, but a few operation units still practice excessive packaging, and the Prefecture Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision has ordered them to make immediate corrections.
