Ningxia Food Labels May Be Printed and Used Only After Filing for Record

Published:2021-04-16 · Industry News

According to reports, the measures for the administration of food label filing will regulate food production and processing enterprises in four respects: standardising label marking, the filing system, the processing time for label filing, the period of validity, and the use of existing labels.

Food labels shall indicate the food name, net content, ingredient list, the generic names in national standards of any food additives used, production date, shelf life, the standard implemented, production licence number, quality grade, the name and address of the producer or distributor, and instructions for consumption or use, among other information. Prepackaged foods produced by food production and processing enterprises in Yinchuan must complete filing formalities with the Yinchuan Food Quality Management Association and obtain a Food Label Filing Certificate before they may be printed and used. Food production and processing enterprises within the jurisdiction shall complete label filing formalities before the end of August 2009; those that fail to do so by the deadline will be dealt with. Food label filings are valid for five years. Where an enterprise has existing food labels that do not comply with the Provisions on the Administration of Food Labelling, it must submit a written application to Yinchuan, and the city will, in light of the overall progress of food label filing work citywide, decide how to handle the matter as appropriate, so as to avoid unnecessary losses as far as possible.
