Three Packaging Post-Press Standards Review Meeting Convened in Beijing
On May 27, 2009, the National Printing Standardization Technical Committee (SAC/TC170) held in Beijing at the Ruicheng Hotel an expert review meeting on the draft standards submitted for approval for three post-press packaging standards (die-cutting, hot stamping/embossing, and box making). More than 40 members of SAC/TC170 and specially invited experts from all over the country attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by SAC/TC170 Secretary-General Li An together with review panel heads Li Jiaxiang and Cao Fengling. Secretary-General Li An introduced the background to and process of formulating the three standards and put forward specific opinions on the content and requirements of the standard review. The meeting conscientiously and orderly approved the review of the three post-press packaging standards.
The three post-press packaging standards were formally established as projects in 2007 on the joint proposal of Xingguang Group Co., Ltd. — an enterprise of the 2007 "National Packaging Printing Standardization Testing and Promotion Base" — and Bobst (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., with approval from the General Administration of Press and Publication. Over the past year and a half, with strong support from Xingguang Group Co., Ltd., Bobst (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Kurz Transfer Products (Hefei) Co., Ltd., Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, University of Shanghai for Science and Technology, Tianjin University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Tobacco Packaging Printing Co., Ltd. and the National Printing and Decoration Products Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, and following discussion at four joint meetings of the standard drafting group and extensive solicitation of opinions, the draft standards submitted for approval were formed.
Judging from the expert review at the meeting, the formulation process and technical content of the three standards won unanimous praise from the attending experts. The experts held that the draft standards submitted for approval are relatively detailed in material, accurate in expression, of a high drafting standard and in line with China's actual national conditions. SAC/TC170 will, in accordance with the requirements of the review meeting, prepare as soon as possible the documents for approval of the three standards and submit them to the General Administration of Press and Publication.
