Nine Dragons Paper, located in the Quanzhou Taiwanese Investment Zone,
turns huge volumes of waste paper into high-quality cartons and other products
, and has always followed the path of "green ecology and recycling". In terms of water conservation, the company's practices are equally commendable.
As early as 2011, when the plant was built, Quanzhou Nine Dragons introduced internationally advanced equipment and technology and continuously improved them, so that the company's environmental protection and energy consumption indicators are better than national standards.
In the field of water conservation, each papermaking production line of Nine Dragons has been equipped with an advanced white water (i.e., papermaking water) recovery and circulation system, with a water reuse rate of more than 90%, achieving the recycling and reuse of production water.
In 2019, Quanzhou Nine Dragons started construction of the Phase II production line. Taking into account the rainy summers in the Quanzhou area,
it specially planned and built a roof rainwater collection system.
Today, when there is sufficient rain,
about 6,090 cubic meters of rainwater can be recovered per day
. All this collected rainwater is
channeled to the papermaking workshop for reuse
. Alongside the rainwater collection system is the reuse water system of the Phase II project's wastewater plant, with an annual reuse water volume of 810,006 cubic meters.
Over the years, Nine Dragons Paper's green development philosophy has been highly recognized and deeply supported by its employees, and each shift team has specific water-saving targets for every month and every day - water supply station employees work in 24-hour rotating shifts, keeping a close eye on the computer screens in the control room. "As soon as there is a fluctuation in water consumption, we immediately call each water use point to ask about the specific water use situation," said on-site duty personnel.
It is reported that, to ensure the smooth operation of the 25-kilometer-long water intake pipeline, the company has set up a dedicated water-saving contact phone line for communicating pressure and volume adjustments for daily production water, ensuring the supply pipeline always remains in good condition so as to maximize water conservation.
At present, Quanzhou Nine Dragons mainly produces kraft linerboard and eco-friendly kraft linerboard, and has 3 paper machines with a total designed annual capacity of 1 million tonnes.
