First Printed Electronics Design Guide Released
[ppzhan Abstract] Recently, IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries and JPCA jointly released the 'IPC/JPCA-2291 Printed Electronics Design Guide', which provides design requirements concerning the consistency and manufacturability of printed electronics.
The 'IPC/JPCA-2291 Printed Electronics Design Guide' was jointly released by IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries and JPCA on July 30. The guide provides design requirements concerning the consistency and manufacturability of printed electronics. Together with the 'IPC/JPCA-4921 Printed Electronics Substrate Requirements' and the 'IPC/JPCA-4591 Printed Electronics Functional Materials Requirements', IPC/JPCA-2291 builds a solid foundation for the constantly emerging applications of printed electronics.
Although the idea of printing conductors on a substrate is not new, the low manufacturing cost advantage of printed electronics has caused new markets and technologies to constantly sprout, not to mention the advantage of being able to realize products of arbitrary shapes through a variety of substrates. In addition, printed electronics uses additive processes, with fewer steps and simpler manufacturing; this will greatly reduce the environmental pollution caused by etching processes in subtractive processes and also reduce compliance time.
Research on printed electronics technology is still at an early stage, and this design guide is a summary of the current best practices of enterprises in the printed electronics field. Marc Carter, IPC's director of technology transfer, said: 'At present, printed electronics technology is developing rapidly, and standards should also reflect the industry's best practices in a timely manner. After IPC/JPCA-2291 is published, we will immediately start the work of revising this guide. As an industry standard, IPC will join hands with JPCA to invite more enterprises to join the development work of this design guide. Here, I hope more printed electronics professionals will join our team of standards development working groups.'
IPC is developing other printed electronics standards as well, including the 'IPC/JPCA-6901 Performance Requirements for Printed Electronics Assemblies' and an as-yet-unnamed printed electronics process guide. At the same time, IPC is also developing a printed electronics technology roadmap to help the industry identify industry needs and strengths.

Since the semester began, Jiao Ke, a student at a university in Beijing, and his roommates have found that the takeout they usually order has changed dramatically in its packaging! "In the past, the plastic wrap was wound three times one way and three times the other—you'd be left doubting life itself before you got it open! Now the packaging is clean and neat; just lift the lid and enjoy the food," he said outright. For some time now, excessive packaging with "big boxes for small meals and layer upon layer added" has become excessive
