Recently, a relevant printing technology committee put forward a draft standard on the CO2 generated by printed products, titled "Quantification and Calculation of the Carbon Footprint of Print Media Products." This draft standard defines and refines how the CO2 carbon footprint of printed products is to be calculated. From the introduction of this draft, the author sees that green printing is about to open a new era for printing. This may well be a new opportunity for the flagging printing industry.

Green and environmental protection have long been, apart from technology, one of the tasks that China and indeed the whole world attaches importance to in future development, and in China's 12th Five-Year Plan, environmental protection was listed as a key task for the next five years. In the printing industry, green printing has become a new theme for the future development of printing. In recent years, printing enterprises have begun to combine green with printing — whether in technology or in the inks, PS plates and other materials they choose, everything is linked to green.

The launch of green printing means that printing has entered a new era. In a daze, the author seems to glimpse a future of printing brimming with verdant green.
