Guangdong Worker's Hand "Swallowed" by Printing Press, Situation Critical
At exactly 18:00 on July 12, an employee of a factory on Guanjiang Road, Henglan Town, Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province, accidentally got his hand caught in a roller while operating a printing press and could not free it, in an extremely critical situation. After receiving the alarm from the 119 command center, Henglan firefighters quickly dispatched 3 vehicles and 14 officers and men to the scene.
At the accident scene, firefighters observed that the trapped employee was bare-chested and lying prone on the printing press, with his left hand pinched under the press roller. The factory owner explained that the machine roller was solid iron, about 10 cm in diameter.
After observing, the commander immediately arranged for officers and men to use a pry bar, applying the lever principle to expand the gap, easing the pressure on the trapped employee's hand while offering him psychological comfort. Then, clothing was used to cover the trapped employee's head and hand to prevent sparks from causing secondary injury, after which a metal cutting machine was used to partially cut one end of the roller.
Twenty minutes later, the two rollers needed for the rescue were cut through, and the trapped employee was successfully rescued. After emergency treatment of the wound, medical staff sent the trapped employee to hospital for further treatment.
The fire department reminds: industrial production involves close interaction between people and machines, so accidents are unavoidable, and the safety accidents occurring with printing presses and die-cutting machines are the most numerous. Therefore, enterprise leaders must strengthen safety training for employees and improve equipment to increase the safety factor. When employees operate machinery and equipment, they must concentrate and operate in a standard manner to avoid safety accidents.
