Carton Prices Rise Across Regions, With Single Increases Reaching 10%
Facing constantly rising raw material prices, carton plants at the tail end of the paper packaging industry chain have also begun to pass cost pressure downstream. Recently, Wuxi Hongxintai Packaging Materials Co., Ltd. issued a price increase notice stating: following notice from the factory, it has been decided that from October 1 all products will rise by 10%.
It is not an isolated case: in Fujian Province, the carton price at Quanzhou Tianchen Paper Packaging Co., Ltd. also rose by as much as 10% in a single increase. In its price increase notice the company said that carton production enterprises are traditional processing enterprises whose profits come entirely from meagre processing fees, and the company is now unable to bear the constantly rising raw material costs.
As is well known, over the past half month, against the backdrop of power rationing and production limits, paper mills in many parts of the country have been shutting down machines and cutting output while raising prices repeatedly, pushing base paper prices up steadily. Paperboard plants, extremely sensitive to the market, reacted quickly and passed on price pressure promptly, with some enterprises raising prices three times in barely ten days.
As base paper and paperboard prices rose, carton prices rose along with them. Besides tertiary plants, secondary plants have also been successively raising carton prices, such as Quanzhou Tianchen Paper Packaging Co., Ltd. mentioned above, as well as Liuyang Jinxin Packaging Co., Ltd., Gao'an Dehe Industrial Co., Ltd. and other enterprises.
