Draft No. 8 of Flexographic Printing Process Control Standard Now Formed by Drafting Group
[ppzhan abstract] The 4th working meeting of the drafting group for "Graphic technology — Process control for the production of half-tone colour separations, proof and production prints — Part 6: Flexographic printing" was recently held in Shanghai. The meeting produced a preliminary draft of "Draft No. 8 of the Drafting Group". The meeting required that the revision and refinement of the text of the draft of Draft No. 8 be completed within one week.
On November 26-27, 2012, the 4th working meeting of the drafting group for GB/T17934.6-201X "Graphic technology — Process control for the production of half-tone colour separations, proof and production prints — Part 6: Flexographic printing" was held in Shanghai. More than 10 experts and technical personnel attended the meeting, from the Shanghai Printing Technology Research Institute, Wuhan Huayi Flexo Environmental Protection Technology Co., Ltd., the Flexographic Products Division of Flint Group, Shanghai Yingyao Laser Digital Plate Making Co., Ltd., Bobst (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., Shanghai Zhengwei Printing Co., Ltd., Shanghai Ziquan Label Co., Ltd., Shanghai Fancai Image Equipment Co., Ltd., the Flexographic Printing Branch of the China Printing Technology Association, and Esko (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd. The meeting was hosted by Esko (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd.
The meeting conducted careful discussion and study of the technical content and specific technical data of the flexographic standard. In view of the substantial improvement in China's flexographic printing technology level in recent years, 10 items of technical content in the standard were added or modified in light of China's actual conditions, 8 of which involved raising technical indicators; the outdated content on "soft dot technology" was selectively deleted, while the quality inspection content for hard dot colour separation film was retained. As for the translation of terms such as "three-component in the original electronic document", "mid-tone expansion", "error, deviation and tolerance", and "black composition in gray balance", the translation was ensured to be accurate from a professional standpoint while also taking into account customary usage in the industry, and was kept consistent with the terminology in "Printing Terminology" and GB/T17934.1.
After one and a half days of intensive work, the meeting produced a preliminary draft of "Draft No. 8 of the Drafting Group". The meeting required that the revision and refinement of the text of the draft of Draft No. 8 be completed within one week, and that the drafting group should also complete the preparation of the explanatory notes on the development of the standard as required. The two documents will then be adopted as the "draft standard for public comment" at the 5th working meeting of the drafting group to be held in Chongqing in mid-December. After the Chongqing meeting, the "draft standard for public comment" will be distributed to the entire industry to solicit opinions and suggestions publicly.
